Real Estate Blog

If the title of this blog post speaks to you, then you're in the right place.

In case we haven't gotten the point across with our blogs, videos, social media posts, and all around marketing blasts, I wanted to reach out to our friends, clients, associates, and readers once more to discuss Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

In brief, Second Harvest Foodbank helps feed the hungry in Southern Wisconsin. Every $1.00 raised feeds three people in need.

Tomorrow, however, is an annual event that will blow. your. mind.

The event is called Hunger's Hope Radiothon and, with the help of many generous donors including Alliant Energy and Genesis Painting, Second Harvest Foodbank is

Our March Madness Fundraiser is happening NOW. Here’s how you can help us help others, in a great way.

Today, we're taking a break from talking real estate. I'd like to talk about a way YOU can make a difference here in Madison. Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, the area’s largest hunger-relief charity, is an inspiration to us. That’s why we’ve partnered up with them for our annual March Madness Fundraiser, and we’re looking for sponsors like YOU to help make this event as impactful as possible.

We're asking for help in three different areas:

Though some of this advice may have worked in the past, the market is always changing. Here are some tips you should avoid in today's market.

Friends and relatives are always trying to offer advice. Once you're in the market to buy a home, you'll see this tenfold. However, some of the tips you’re being given don’t really apply to our current market. Therefore, today I'm going to share with you some outdated home buying advice you should disregard.

“You should wait until prices decrease.” We’ve been in a seller’s market for some time now, which means there's an excess of buyers and not enough homes. As a result, prices have gone

It's cold.

That's the #1 complaint I get while I'm bartending at my nighttime gig. That's also when I typically figure out that the person I'm speaking to is not a Madison native.

Us Dane County Dwellers know that the cold is still here for at least a couple more months. We know that there has been colder weather #polarvortex2019. We know that, because it's only February, it's useless to spend our time waiting for the seemingly elusive summer weather. That being said, I decided it was time for another post covering the winter-proof events in Madison in the next month, so that none of you have the excuse to drop off the face of Wisconsin until warmer, sunnier times.

Everyone believes in something.

That's why, to start off 2019, we want to promote an organization and cause we truly believe in here at Madison Neighborhoods - Keller Williams: Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin

A little about Second Harvest Foodbank:

  • Nonprofit hunger-relief charity organization
  • Southern Wisconsin's largest hunger relief-charity
  • Three major goals: food distribution, promotion of government programs, and promoting hunger awareness
  • Accepts cash donations; every $1.00 donated provides 3 meals to those in need
  • Accepts a wide variety of food and grocery items (note from Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin below); every 1.2 lbs of food donated provides 1 meal to those in need

If you're wondering what's happening in the real estate markets for both Madison, WI and Dane County, you're in the right place. Read on for today's market update.

Want to buy a home? Search all homes for sale.

At the moment, we're in a seller's market, as we have been for quite some time. In the greater Madison area, there's currently less than one month’s supply of homes available for sale. In Dane County, there's a little less than 1.5 months of supply.

Some of you may ask, how does a seller's market affect property values?

Generally speaking, a low supply of homes for sale puts upward pressure on pricing. However, since it's still early in the year, most sellers haven’t

How do you decompress?

Do you house a stress ball in your desk drawer? Do you head out to the woods and let nature soothe you? Or, do you throw on your favorite song, like me, and sing/dance it out? Better yet, put me in a music venue with a crowd of people who are all in that room for (ultimately) the same reason, and that show can make every stress in my mind disappear for approximately three hours.

Music lovers / de-stressers are lucky to live in Madison.

Not only do we constantly have new and awesome bands coming to town, but we have multiple venues to choose from that reside in the city.

Because the next few months will likely continue to be the arctic freeze that the past month has

For those of you who are unaware, one of the biggest money makers for both chocolate companies and florists is next week: Valentine's Day, or as some of my friends like to call it, Singles Awareness Day.

Disclaimer for the latter: Singles Awareness Day is actually February 15th. Don't worry my single friends, there's an entire day dedicated to celebrating you.

Whatever you like to refer to it as, it's a week to celebrate and appreciate the ones you love. If you're anything like me, when you celebrate, there should be copious amounts of good food involved.

Lucky for us Dane County dwellers, there are a ton of really great restaurants to choose from for an occasion as so.

If you'd like to learn more about the

This Sunday, February 3rd is the event that sports' lovers, advertising majors, Adam Levine enthusiasts, and chip dip fanatics have all been waiting for: Super Bowl Sunday.

Whether your favorite team is playing or you're just in it for the hilarious commercials, Sunday is a day to kick back in front of the TV and relax.

Here in Wisconsin, the past week has literally (actually) been a polar vortex. Many of you, myself included, are experiencing cabin fever. However, have no fear: this weekend a heat wave is heading our way! That's right, temperatures above 0 degrees which means it will be safe, yet again, to leave the house. Therefore, this year's Super Bowl may be an out-of-the-house event for us polar vortexees.

In Dane County, most of the

Calling All Coffee Lovers:

If you haven't already, it's time for you to move to Madison, WI. Not only do we have amazing fish fry options (as seen in last week's blog) but we also have delicious, frothy, flavorful caffeine on caffeine on CAFFEINE.

I typically try to take coffee from home to work in order to save money and time. However, when I forget to set up Mr. Coffee the night before, chaos undoubtedly ensues the next morning. That's why it's nice to know the local coffee shops that are on the way to work and that know how to make quality coffee without skimping on the caffeine levels.

So whether you run out of time to make your own coffee, or just want a froofy beverage made by a professional
